Position Overview: As an On-Call Food Service Worker, you will play a vital role in delivering food services within a Head Start/Early Head Start Program that caters to children aged 0-5. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing appealing, USDA-approved meals.
  • Ensuring the kitchen remains clean and sanitary in accordance with Health Department regulations.
  • Maintaining sufficient food supplies, kitchen inventory, and service records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of the designated menu.
  • Deliver food to classrooms and collect used dishes.
  • Utilize sanitary washing procedures for dishes and cooking utensils.
  • Verify food deliveries for accuracy and quality.
  • Store food and supplies appropriately, labeling all canned, boxed, and bagged items.
  • Implement the FIFO (First In, First Out) method for inventory management.
  • Monitor and uphold proper food temperatures, including those in refrigerators and freezers.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen materials and supplies as required.

Qualifications:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • ServSafe certification is preferred.
  • Physical examination and background checks are mandatory for this position.
