Role Summary: As a Volunteer Driver, you will play a crucial role in facilitating transportation for children to essential appointments, including family visits and therapy sessions. This position requires collaboration with case managers and volunteer coordinators to ensure safe and timely travel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transport children to designated appointments as coordinated with the case manager.
  • Confirm pick-up times and directions with caregivers.
  • Implement safety protocols, including the use of appropriate car seats and seatbelts.
  • Provide support and companionship to children during travel.
  • Report any significant events or concerns to staff members.
  • Maintain accurate records of mileage and any incurred parking expenses.
  • Adhere to all volunteer policies and procedures outlined in the manual.

Qualifications:

  • Valid driver's license and current vehicle insurance.
  • Access to a reliable vehicle, with a willingness to drive in various areas.
  • Ability to connect with children in a compassionate and understanding manner.
  • Skills in managing child behavior when necessary.
  • Strong organizational skills and dependability.
  • Effective communication abilities and mature problem-solving skills.
  • Cell phone usage is recommended but not mandatory.

Commitment: A minimum commitment of six months is required, with an expectation of one visit per week (2-4 hours). Opportunities are available for individuals aged 18 and older.

Benefits: Volunteers will receive a letter of reference, a certificate of recognition, evaluation, supervision, and training/orientation.
