Speech Language Pathologist Part-Time Job Description

Miami Jewish Health is a leading provider of healthcare and living options for aging adults in the Southeast. Our skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility is located on a beautiful 20+ acre campus just north of mid-town Miami.

We serve approximately 1200 patients and residents each year, providing a full range of long-term care, treatment, support, and post-hospitalization services.

Job Summary

As a Speech Language Pathologist Part-Time, you will be responsible for preventing, evaluating, treating, and diagnosing speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders. You will develop treatment plans that utilize appropriate interventions, strategies, and materials, and collaborate with physicians, family members, and other members of the healthcare team.

Essential Job Functions
  • Complete comprehensive evaluations and plans of care
  • Develop treatment plans that maximize potential
  • Begin discharge planning on evaluation and involve patients, family, and caregivers in establishing goals for rehabilitation and discharge planning
  • Review patient status at regular intervals and change treatment programs as necessary
  • Monitor therapy utilization for appropriateness and alignment with regulatory requirements
  • Participate in and provide in-service education to facilities, supportive staff, students, and the community
  • Attend departmental and IDT meetings
  • Establish cooperative working relationships between IDT, rehab team, and medical community
  • Supervise and train support personnel
  • Monitor documentation for accuracy and timing
  • Consistently maintain 90% productivity
  • Identify potential problem situations, intervene appropriately, and communicate events to supervisor
  • Perform related non-clinical services necessary to maintain efficient operation of speech therapy area
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited school
  • One year experience in speech language pathology and experience working with geriatric population preferred
  • Florida Licensed Speech Language Pathologist
  • Current BLS certification
  • Certified with the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (CCC-SLP) preferred
Abilities Required
  • Current knowledge of safety issues needed in treatment of patients
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Good problem-solving and clinical judgment skills
  • Ability to take initiative, be adaptable, and work well independently
  • Be well-organized, flexible, dependable, and punctual
  • Ability to work well with staff, individuals, and participants of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds
  • Must be computer literate (Microsoft Office, Excel)
