Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse

Eastern Virginia Medical School is seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and support to our patients and families.

Responsibilities:
  • Triage incoming patients and provide basic patient care as ordered.
  • Assist physicians with examinations, minor surgeries, diagnostic procedures, and treatments.
  • Provide patient education on various topics, including diabetic teaching, home monitoring, coagulation therapy, discharge medication reconciliation, drug assistance programs, nutrition, and barriers to care.
  • Administer injections of medications or immunizations in accordance with approved nursing protocols.
  • Respond to life-threatening situations based on nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Prepare exam rooms for patients, restock supplies, sterilize instruments, and maintain medical equipment.
  • Document all nursing interventions in the electronic medical record and review charts for completeness, test results, and billing.
  • Complete tasks assigned to individual teams, including responding to patient messages, prescription refills, lab results, referrals, home health agencies, medication prior authorizations, patient forms, and follow-up from physicians.
Requirements:
  • Completion of a program of instruction for licensure as an LPN and valid VA LPN license.
  • One year of relevant nursing experience preferred.
  • Completion of BLS class and re-certification every 2 years.
