Position Overview:

The Phlebotomist plays a crucial role in the healthcare setting, ensuring the accurate collection and processing of patient specimens. This position requires a high level of attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate the centralized computer system and Laboratory Information System (LIS) efficiently.
  • Confirm patient identity and the specific tests to be conducted before specimen collection.
  • Collect and process patient samples accurately for diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive purposes.
  • Track specimens according to established protocols, ensuring proper labeling and processing.
  • Follow universal precautions for the collection and disposal of specimens.
  • Conduct basic waived testing as required.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the work and laboratory draw areas.
  • Manage medical equipment, including needles, test tubes, and blood vials, ensuring proper disposal of sharps and biohazardous materials.
  • Uphold all HIPAA confidentiality policies and regulations.

Attendance and Collaboration:

Regular and reliable attendance is essential for this role, as is the ability to foster collegial and harmonious working relationships with colleagues.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification in Phlebotomy from a recognized organization.

Additional Information:

This position may require background checks for graduate students.

Compensation:

The hourly wage for this position is $13.00.
