About the Role
Sr. DBA Location: Flexible (CST and EST preferred)

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Database Administrator to join our team at C4 Technical Services. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and MonetDB, as well as excellent communication skills and strong technical expertise in PostgreSQL.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement database architecture to ensure optimal performance and scalability.
  • Monitor and maintain the health of PostgreSQL instances.
  • Tune PostgreSQL configuration parameters to improve performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement system changes.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for best practices and research new features.
  • Provide innovative solutions to meet DBA challenges and automate processes.
  • Engage in continuous learning and share knowledge with the team.

Requirements:
A minimum of 10+ years of experience with PostgreSQL and MonetDB on Linux.
Excellent communication skills and strong technical expertise in PostgreSQL.
Hands-on experience in performance fine-tuning, monitoring, and administration in production instances.
Ability to estimate and perform capacity planning for environments.
Familiarity with different backup and restore activities.
Knowledge of PostgreSQL high availability features.
Experience with disaster recovery setups, active-active PG configurations.
Ability to maintain performance by performing maintenance activities.
Familiarity with data migration from Oracle to PostgreSQL using ora2pg.
Experience with third-party tools like pgbadger, barman, and pgbackrest.
Ability to upgrade PostgreSQL clusters from lower versions to higher versions.
Experience with setting up foreign data wrappers for cross-database access.
Familiarity with configuring and managing pgpool and troubleshooting issues.
Ability to optimize application queries and recommend changes.
Familiarity with performing maintenance activities like full vacuum and analyze operations.
Bonus points for experience with other open-source databases and offshore-onshore models.
Estimated Salary:$140,000 - $200,000 per annum.
