We are seeking a highly skilled Emergency Medicine Physician to join our team at the Veterans Health Administration. As a key member of our medical staff, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in our Emergency Department.
Job Summary:The selected candidate will be responsible for assessing and treating patients in the Emergency Department, including critically ill or injured patients. You will also be expected to provide Attending Physician oversight to residents and mid-level providers, as well as participate in Quality Assurance and chart reviews.
Responsibilities:- Perform assessments and/or examinations on encounters with all presenting patients
- Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests necessary to complete the ED evaluation
- Provide Attending Physician oversight to residents, mid-level providers as applicable
- Stabilize all critically ill or injured patients
- Determine whether admission to the hospital is necessary or if patient may be safely discharged from the ED with appropriate follow-up
- Discuss treatment plan with patient and or family/caregiver (following COBRA guidelines)
- Perform medication reconciliation with all patients
- Participate in Quality Assurance, chart reviews, and support applicable ED performance measures
- Coordinate patient care with consultants as deemed appropriate
- United States Citizenship
- Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree from a college or university approved by the Administrator
- Completion of an ACGME accredited residency in Emergency Medicine or a related field
- Board certification in Emergency Medicine or a related field
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
