Job Overview

Omitron, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Junior Software Engineer to join our team in Colorado Springs, CO. As a key member of the SOLACE software development team, you will be responsible for producing critical astrodynamics applications that support the US Space Force's Space Situational Awareness and Space Domain Awareness mission areas.

Responsibilities
  • Develop software in line with the SOLACE Lead Engineer's guidelines, ensuring adherence to language, style, and functionality standards.
  • Meet program schedules as set by the SOLACE Product Owner, delivering software on time and to the required quality standards.
  • Implement modern software authoring techniques, including integrated testing, code management (GIT), and a Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipeline.
  • Analyze and interpret legacy astrodynamics software source code selected for modernization under the SOLACE effort, which may contain code written in C, FORTRAN, MATLAB, or other languages.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers from both SOLACE and legacy application projects.
  • Conduct performance and comparative result assessments for SOLACE applications.
Requirements
  • Security Clearance: None required, but candidates must be willing to undergo a US Government security clearance process.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or 4 years of experience in software development and/or astrodynamics engineering.
  • Functional knowledge of at least one of the following software languages: Java, C++, Fortran.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Passion for creating innovative solutions in a narrow field of operations.
  • Ability to multitask and identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Self-starter with excellent time-management and problem-solving abilities.
