Healthcare Support Specialist

CentraState Healthcare System is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Patient Care Technician to join our team. As a Patient Care Technician, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support to our patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities- Provide basic nursing care and assist patients with activities of daily living
- Collect and label specimens without error
- Accurately perform bedside glucose monitoring and calibration of Accucheck and enter data
- Correctly perform all scheduled and assigned tasks while continually observing patient needs
- Retrieve blood from the Blood Bank
- Verbalize and perform understanding of 1:1 precautions and document appropriately
- Perform post mortem care
- Follow CentraState policy regarding restraint application, documentation, and observation
- Always answer patient call lights in a timely manner
- Provide basic nursing care, including partial and/or complete direct personal hygienic care to patients
- Properly perform electrocardiograms
- Accurately collect and document patient data (TPR, I&O, specimen collection, height, and weight) utilizing learned technical skills under the direction of the RN
- Accurately document patient data and comfort rounds in Wellsoft system
- Correctly make occupied and unoccupied beds
- Notify nurse immediately for patient's complaints of pain/discomfort and any observed change in condition
- Provide appropriate interventions for pain as directed by nurse and report outcomes
- Assist with the elimination needs of the patient while providing privacy and dignity
- Perform rounding as per guidelines
- Correctly feed patients
- Perform tasks to maintain patient mobility
- Accurately maintain feeding tubes
- Accurately perform incentive spirometry and pulse oximetry
- Accurately obtain and document temperatures, pulses, respirations, and blood pressure
- Accurately measure and document intake and output
- Report patient intake and output to nurse
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- PCT training provided by CentraState's Nursing Education & Professional Development team
- Commitment to minimum of One (1) year of Full-Time employment
- BLS certification (American Heart Association only) required upon hire
- Glucose certifications are provided by CentraState during orientation
