**School Support Assistant**

Amergis is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Support Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our educational staff, you will play a vital role in supporting students with instructional and behavioral needs.
Key Responsibilities- Work closely with students requiring instructional and/or behavioral assistance under the supervision of the special education department and/or supervising designee.
- Provide support services to assist students with personal, physical mobility, and therapeutic care needs, as established by a rehabilitation health practitioner, social worker, or other healthcare professional.
- Assist students during recess and lunch periods, as well as community experiences.
- Communicate pertinent information to teachers and adhere to confidentiality requirements regarding all matters pertaining to students, parents, and classroom activities.
- Assist with activities of prescribed programs, including those written by related service personnel such as PT, OT, and SLP.
- Assist students in the development of independent skills through self-care activities such as toileting, clothing routines, feeding, and personal hygiene.
- May be asked to assist in behavior management techniques at the direction of the teacher and/or other school professional.
- Assist teacher with clerical duties, including making stimuli, making copies, maintaining a clean and organized classroom, preparing materials, and assignment scoring.
- Assist with transfers and ambulation.
- Comply with all relevant professional standards of practice.
- Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
- Current CPR if applicable.
- TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable.
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
- Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
- Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site.
- Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
- Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required.
- Computer proficiency required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
