Shift Details:
Days, 7 AM - 7 PM, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week, every other weekend, no on-call or holiday shifts required.
Contract Duration:
26 weeks (preferred but negotiable)
Qualifications:
- Must possess a valid ME Nursing License
- At least 1 year of nursing experience is required; additional experience is preferred
- Proficient in reading and interpreting rhythm strips, tracheostomy care, chest tube management, and general medical-surgical skills (including wound care, IV antibiotics, drain/tube management, IV starts, and central line management)
- Current BLS certification
- NIH Stroke Scale certification preferred
- EKG interpretation and ACLS certification preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience is highly desirable
First-time travelers are welcome.
The nurse may be required to float to any area with Med/Tele patients as needed.

Total Beds: 44 private and semi-private rooms
Patient Types:
The unit accommodates a variety of medical diagnoses, excluding primary cardiac cases. Patients monitored on telemetry may include those with strokes, COPD, respiratory illnesses (such as flu, pneumonia, and COVID), GI bleeds, renal failure (AKI/CKD), electrolyte imbalances, altered mental status, weakness, and non-operable fractures.
This is a non-surgical unit.
Patient Ratios:
Day Shift: 1 RN to 4-5 patients; Night Shift: 1 RN to 5-6 patients. Ratios may vary based on patient acuity and available support staff.
Support Staff:
The unit is supported by CNAs, a charge nurse (typically without a patient assignment), and 24/7 availability of house supervisors, respiratory therapists, and hospitalists.
Physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy services are available during the day shift.
Charting and Equipment:
The unit utilizes Cerner (not mandatory), Alaris, and Pyxis systems.
Additional Notes:
Personal attire restrictions include no crocs with holes, no artificial nails, and limited personal cell phone usage during work hours.
