Your Contribution:
The Senior Machinist will be responsible for fabricating mechanical prototypes and engineering models based on discussions and sketches provided by Engineers and Technicians. This role involves working with a diverse range of materials, including metals, wood, plastics, nylon, and composites. The Senior Machinist is expected to operate with minimal supervision from engineers to design and manufacture components.
Essential Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Must possess or be eligible to obtain a Secret clearance.
Desirable Skills:
- Ability to interpret prints, complex drawings, sketches, or samples to plan and execute sequential machining operations.
- Experience working with various metals and materials that present challenging machining characteristics.
- Proficient in operating a range of hand and power tools for fabrication, including band saws, drill presses, mechanical shears, and punches.
- Capable of planning and executing complex machining tasks with minimal oversight, utilizing machines such as cylindrical and surface grinders, turret and engine lathes, milling machines, and shapers.
- Experience with intricate setups requiring precise machine attachments and a high level of accuracy in producing parts with stringent tolerances and finish specifications.
- Ability to lead and coordinate the work of junior machinists.
- Skilled in programming using Mastercam to create numerical code from blueprints and drawings for CNC machinery, including tool paths, feed rates, and other cutting parameters.
- Competent in importing numerical code to machinery and performing setup and operational functions to manufacture components.
- Ability to work independently from drawings, applying technical expertise.
