Job Description

As a HSE Lead, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of employees and the environment. This includes conducting safety inspections, reporting non-compliant areas and procedures, and recommending corrective actions. You will also be responsible for maintaining safety equipment and supplies, inspecting machines and equipment for accident prevention devices, and observing workers to ensure they are using prescribed safety equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Documenting safety inspections and reporting non-compliant areas and procedures
  • Maintaining safety equipment and supplies
  • Inspecting machines and equipment for accident prevention devices
  • Observing workers to ensure they are using prescribed safety equipment
  • Investigating accidents to determine causes and recommending preventive safety measures
  • Developing and implementing safety programs
  • Performing real-time industrial hygiene air monitoring and collecting routine air, dust, gas, and vapor samples
  • Administering an EHS program on a small-sized project

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • AS or BS degree in a related field (e.g. environmental science, safety management)
  • Basic understanding of physical and biological science
  • Specialized training and certification to meet regulatory requirements (OSHA, 40 hour HAZWOPER, applicable 8 hour OSHA training)
  • Typically 4-20 years of relevant experience

Requirements:

  • Assists with implementation of Environmental Health Safety plans and maintains records and logs as required by EHS Department
  • Inspects work areas, machinery, equipment, and working conditions to ensure compliance with company, state, and federal safety policies and regulations

Working Conditions:

This position requires the ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments, in a variety of weather conditions. The individual may be required to wear a respirator if classified in environmental work. A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is also required.

Travel Requirements:

This position may require travel, as required, and the individual must be available to report to work upon short notice (within 24 hours) of job assignment.
