About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Meat Cutter to join our team at BJ's Wholesale Club. As a Meat Cutter, you will be responsible for receiving, rotating, cutting, wrapping, and merchandising fresh and processed meats, including grinds. You will also assist in merchandising seafood, prepared foods, cheeses, and pre-packed deli, as well as assist in the rotisserie chicken area and full-service deli.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage with members by making recommendations and answering questions regarding meat, poultry, and seafood.
  • Prepare special cuts of meat ordered by members.
  • Cut, grind, and/or process fresh meats to company cutting standards.
  • Weigh, package, wrap, and label cuts of meat, poultry, and seafood to company packaging standards.
  • Ensure the meat case showcases all currently available products.
  • Ensure the meat department maintains an appropriate level of inventory.
  • Clean and sanitize all equipment, display fixtures, and areas in the meat department.
  • Inspect and store meat upon delivery.
  • Receive and unpack meat, poultry, seafood, prepared foods, and cheeses in the meat cooler and freezer.
Requirements
  • Completion of a training program/apprenticeship required.
  • Previous meat cutting experience required.
  • Knowledge of automatic/hand wrapping machines preferred.
  • At least 18 years of age.
Work Environment

The Meat Cutter will work in a cooler area with frequent exposure to temperature extremes and loud noises. There may be occasional exposure to cleaning agents.
