Speech Therapist Job Description

Empath Health is seeking a skilled Speech Therapist to provide high-quality care to patients in the Fort Myers area. As a Speech Therapist, you will work with patients to improve their sensory-motor development, perception, memory, language, and cognition.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide speech therapy services in compliance with physician's prescription and patient's plan of care.
  • Perform initial and ongoing assessments to identify patient's level of functioning, swallowing, and communication ability.
  • Develop a plan of care in consultation with the physician and other care team members.
  • Instruct patients and families on proper consistency of food to maintain nutritional intake and prevent complications of swallowing disorders.
  • Instruct patients and families on using special educational strategies and techniques to improve sensory-motor development, perception, memory, language, and cognition.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an approved/accredited college program that meets the educational requirements for a Certificate of Clinical Competence in speech pathology or audiology.
  • Licensure as a speech pathologist in the respective state.
  • One (1) year home health care experience preferred.
