Job Overview

As the Control Systems Validation Manager at DAIKIN COMFORT TECHNOLOGIES MFG LP, you will take charge of leading the validation team responsible for ensuring the successful qualification of innovative products while providing timely support for testing requirements on existing products. This role involves overseeing a team of test engineers and technicians dedicated to developing test cases and evaluating embedded firmware for advanced heating, cooling, and indoor air quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the validation processes for all embedded software utilized in controllers, ranging from 8-bit to 32-bit embedded processors and System on Chips (SoCs).
  • Manage personnel, projects, and technology, serving as both a people manager and subject matter expert.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in testing embedded systems for electro-mechanical devices, actively contributing to testing, development, debugging, issue resolution, and design reviews.
  • Develop and maintain project timelines related to product launches or design enhancements.
  • Lead the embedded firmware and product testing team, ensuring optimal productivity and resource allocation based on workload demands.
  • Coordinate project activities within the department and collaborate with other departments to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Engage in additional projects and responsibilities to support ongoing business objectives.

Scope of Work:

  • Align work with the expectations and vision set by the Director.
  • Accountable for the implementation of policies and procedures to achieve short-term results.
  • Make decisions guided by established policies and business plans, with guidance from senior management.
  • Address complex issues and projects effectively.
  • Provide mentorship and training to team members.
  • Possess authority to hire, recommend compensation, assess performance, and suggest terminations as necessary.

Required Knowledge & Skills:

  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to inspire continuous improvement among team members.
  • In-depth knowledge of electro-mechanical systems and embedded systems.
  • Proficient in software tools such as JIRA, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Familiarity with embedded C programming for various devices including HVAC systems, medical devices, and automotive applications.
  • Experience in testing and validating microcontroller-based systems.
  • Understanding of version control systems and their applications.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, along with strong business acumen.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within teams and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.
  • Exhibit sound judgment, a strong work ethic, and integrity in all tasks.

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of 8 years in embedded software testing, documentation, and code review.
  • At least 3 years in a leadership capacity, either in project management or personnel management.
  • Solid grasp of industry best practices in software development.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering is mandatory.
