About the Role

The Surgical Technologist plays a vital role in the operating room, working under the supervision of a surgeon and registered nurse to ensure the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures.

This position requires expertise in sterile and aseptic technique, as well as knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tools and technologies.

The Surgical Technologist will collaborate with the leadership team and UCIC to identify and resolve unit issues, and will maintain, operate, and monitor all equipment according to manufacturer's recommendations and department standards.

This is a dynamic and fast-paced environment that requires strong communication and technical skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures
  • Ensure the operating room environment is safe and equipment functions properly
  • Collaborate with the leadership team and UCIC to identify and resolve unit issues
  • Maintain, operate, and monitor all equipment according to manufacturer's recommendations and department standards
  • Provide technically skilled duties, serving as first assist during surgical operations
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology program
  • Previous Surgical Technologist experience preferred
  • Current Surgical Tech Certification preferred, or registration with the Virginia Board of Medicine required
Working Conditions

This position requires constant sitting, standing, walking, and bending/stooping, as well as frequent repetitive body movements.

Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills are required, as well as the ability to write legibly and lift/push/pull up to 100 lbs occasionally.
