Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Linux Systems Administrator to enhance our team.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Oversee the administration of ARL computing systems established in FY20.
2. Contribute to the architectural design of the Army Research Laboratory A2I2 facility for systems slated for delivery in 2024 and beyond.
3. Provide expert guidance on persistent services to support a variety of high-performance computing (HPC) software stacks, particularly in AI/ML applications, utilizing tools such as Kubeflow.
4. Offer insights on architectural decisions involving NVidia Grace/Hopper, ARM, and innovative file systems.
5. Identify and recommend open-source software tools and stacks tailored for customer-specific and production environments.
6. Develop and implement software instrumentation to assess and visualize the performance of various systems, subsystems, and user tasks.
7. Act as a subject matter expert for the HPC program's system administration team, focusing on research, development, and production HPC systems.
Essential Skills:
- Extensive experience with various Linux operating systems and high-performance computing environments.
- Proficient in Linux tools, performance optimization, and instrumentation.
- Strong background in Linux container technologies.
- Familiarity with open-source software tools, stacks, and industry standards.
- Proven ability to lead a team of system administrators across diverse platforms and requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Awareness of emerging hardware/software technologies and their potential applications.
- Ability to translate client requirements into effective hardware and software solutions.
- Experience integrating new capabilities into existing HPC systems.
- Skills in standardizing software stacks to simplify support and reduce costs.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
- Linux+ and Security+ certifications.
Clearance Requirement:
Top Secret clearance is necessary for this position.
