About the Position

We are seeking a skilled Academic Support Specialist to join our team at El Buen Samaritano. This is a full-time position that offers a competitive salary of $50,000 per year.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing academic support to students, including tutoring and mentoring. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in education or youth development, with experience working with diverse populations, particularly Spanish speakers and English Language Learners (ELL).

As a key member of our team, the Academic Support Specialist will work closely with families, volunteers, and staff to deliver high-quality bilingual STEAM and Academic programming while ensuring operational excellence and compliance with organizational standards and funding requirements.

The selected candidate will also be responsible for leading and coordinating specific tutoring needs of youth, including providing bilingual tutoring at various levels (remedial to advanced academic subjects).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Development and Delivery: Facilitate summer camp and academic support programming in the Fall and Spring, both in-person and virtually through platforms such as Zoom.
  • Evaluation: Conduct student assessments and assist families in completing Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) evaluations to identify and address additional family needs through closed-loop referrals to other services.
  • Family and Community Engagement: Organize and facilitate family workshops, engagement events, and community outreach activities to support student recruitment and retention.
