Nuclear Medicine Technologist

As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist at the University of Michigan, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality healthcare services to patients of all ages. Your primary responsibility will be to perform PET and/or general Nuclear Medicine imaging, including radioisotope preparation, quality control, data acquisition, and processing.
Key Responsibilities- Corroborate patient clinical history and exam ordered following patient identification guidelines.
- Utilize proper radiation protection devices and immobilization techniques for specific age populations.
- Follow Radiation Safety protocols for patients and self.
- Properly position patients for anatomic demonstration while respecting their condition and abilities.
- Utilize nuclear medicine equipment following proper protocols.
- Provide diagnostic high-quality images for interpretation.
- Calibrate and perform diagnostic studies using scanners or scintillation cameras to detect radiation emitted and produce images.
- Understand and apply guest relation skills following Patient and Families First Principles.
- Work consistently as a team member willing to assist everyone, crossing modalities when needed.
- Follow Infection Control practices utilizing aseptic techniques, observing Universal precautions, and patient safety standards.
- Participated in a clinical internship in Nuclear Medicine.
- Obtained a bachelor's degree or associate (AS) degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or successful completion of an accredited certification program in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
- Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or American Registry of Radiologic Technology (N) or to be registry eligible.
- BLS certification or eligibility for certification is necessary.
This position is included in the bargaining unit represented by the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which represents bargaining unit members in all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.
