Job Title: Physician II
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Physician II to join our team at the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC). As a Physician II, you will provide medical care services to patients in our outpatient clinic, working part-time at the Rio Grande State Center (RGSC) OUTPATIENT ADULT MEDICAL Clinic (OPC). You will be responsible for providing medical care to underserved people of the Rio Grande Valley, working closely with our nursing and case management teams to coordinate medical services.
Responsibilities:
- Provide medical care services to patients in our outpatient clinic, including phone, telehealth video, and in-person patient interviews.
- Accurately document medical histories, comprehensive or pertinent physical exams, and provide diagnoses and treatments.
- Maintain accurate paperless electronic medical record documentation, order entry, and e-prescribing of medications, including controlled substances.
- Communicate effectively with patients, explaining results of labs and diagnostic tests and documenting conversations.
- Perform and document general minor procedures, including joint injections or wound care services.
- Provide medical decision-making and justification for medical treatments and procedures within current up-to-date medical standards of care.
- Comply with immunization policies and implement CDC immunization recommendations.
- Participate in chart and prescription audits of accurate documentation in the electronic medical records according to facility guidelines.
- Supervise rotations of medical and PA/ANP students and resident doctors as assigned.
- Respond to texts, phone calls, and provide phone medical consultation services during on-call hours.
- Generate and coordinate referrals to consultant specialists for patients and post-hospital assessments and coordination of discharge care from referral/contract hospitals.
Requirements:
- Unrestricted current Texas Medical License.
- Graduation from an accredited college of medicine with a degree as a medical doctor (MD) or osteopathic doctor (DO).
- Successful completion of ONE year of an ACGME accredited Residency in Family or Internal Medicine.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
