Job Summary

As a Labor and Delivery Nurse at CHI Saint Joseph East, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, guiding patients through the labor and childbirth process with kindness and compassion. You will be responsible for triaging patients, supporting pregnant patients in labor, and assisting in the operating room for cesarean sections and other procedures. You will also educate patients on various interventions and procedures, and assess newborns and provide care.

Responsibilities

Triage walk-ins to determine if a patient is in labor, water is broken, or if it's a false alarm
Support pregnant patients in labor, including induction, epidural assistance, general pain management, and fetal monitoring
Assist and circulate in the operating room for cesarean sections, tubal ligation, cerclage, and emergency procedures
Educate patients on various interventions or procedures, including medications, exams, and labor stages
Assess newborns and provide care
Communicate with the care management team, including anesthesiologists, physicians, lactation nurses, charge nurses, postpartum units, patients, and families

Qualifications

Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing college or program
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license cleared by the Kentucky Board of Nursing or with eNLC multi-state practice privilege
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 6 months of hire
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required within 90 days of hire
Previous L&D experience strongly preferred
