Job Opportunity

We are seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Trainee Horticulturists in the Horticulture and Living Collections department.

Job Summary

As a Trainee Horticulturist, you will assist in the implementation of the operational plan and learn horticultural and associated activities as part of a team. The Traineeship will include a formal training contract and one day per week study toward Certificate II or III in Horticulture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of the gardens and parklands.
  • Participate in the implementation of the operational plan and contribute to the team's efforts.
  • Develop knowledge and skills in horticulture and associated activities.
  • Study toward Certificate II or III in Horticulture as part of the Traineeship.
Selection Criteria

Applicants should address the following five (5) criteria in their application:

  • Successful completion of Year 10.
  • Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of horticulture.
  • Strong work ethic with a willingness and ability to perform physical work year round in an outdoor team environment.
  • Knowledge of and enthusiasm for the Western Australian flora.
Requirements

To be eligible for appointment, it is essential to have Australian citizenship, New Zealand citizenship or Australian permanent residency status or a visa with entitlement to live and work in Australia for the term of the contract.
