Job Title: Structural Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer to join our team at Houston Engineering, Inc. As a Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing structural engineering projects, working closely with our CAD designers and other civil engineering disciplines to ensure successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare detailed engineering analyses, schedules, and technical reports.
  • Design structural engineering projects, including complex grade separation projects and large bridges.
  • Attend meetings and communicate with other civil engineering disciplines and outside consultants or agencies to advance structural projects.
  • Manage all aspects of contract administration, including writing, change requests, invoices, and progress payments.
  • Perform in-service safety inspections and load ratings of existing bridges.
  • Mentor and oversee the work of less experienced structural engineer team members.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in the design and construction of structures.
  • MN Professional Engineer license or the ability to obtain the license within 6 months required.
  • Experience operating MicroStation OpenRoads preferred.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Working knowledge of project team roles and responsibilities.
  • Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local codes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with groups both internally and externally.
