Position Overview:

The Packaging Operator plays a crucial role in the efficient operation of packaging machinery, ensuring that products are packaged in accordance with established specifications while upholding stringent quality standards. This position demands meticulous attention to detail, strict adherence to safety protocols, and the capability to troubleshoot minor equipment issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate Packaging Machinery: Set up, operate, and fine-tune packaging equipment to ensure accurate and efficient product packaging, including filling, sealing, labeling, and coding processes.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct inspections of products and packaging materials to identify defects or inconsistencies, ensuring compliance with company and industry standards.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on packaging machinery, including cleaning and lubricating components, and reporting any malfunctions to the maintenance team.
  • Production Monitoring: Track production rates and adjust machinery settings as necessary to meet production goals and minimize downtime.
  • Safety Protocols: Adhere to all safety procedures to maintain a secure working environment, promptly reporting any hazards or incidents.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of packaging operations, including quantities packaged and materials utilized, and complete necessary documentation.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with team members and other departments to ensure seamless production flow and communicate feedback for process improvements.
  • Inventory Oversight: Assist in monitoring packaging material usage and ensure proper storage and replenishment as needed.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve minor technical issues with packaging machinery, escalating more complex problems to the appropriate personnel.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor or production manager to support efficient operations.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Ability to comprehend technical manuals and operational procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining quality standards.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification in packaging machinery is advantageous.
  • Prior experience in a packaging or production environment is preferred.

Work Environment:

This position is based in a production facility setting where adherence to safety protocols is essential, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in all manufacturing areas.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
  • Capability to perform repetitive motions, including grasping, lifting, and reaching.
  • Exposure to varying noise levels, particularly in operational areas.
