Your Role:
As an Operating Room Nurse Educator, you will play a vital role in enhancing the skills of our nursing staff. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing education to nursing personnel to reinforce fundamental nursing practices.
- Training assigned nursing units on new equipment, procedures, and policies.
- Assisting in the orientation of new staff members within the unit.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in nursing is required; a master's degree is preferred.
Experience:
Applicants must possess:
- In-depth knowledge and experience in nursing principles and theories.
- Skills in applying adult learning principles and conducting assessments.
- Ability to interpret complex data and knowledge of evidence-based nursing practices.
- Familiarity with Joint Commission accreditation standards and Virginia nursing licensure requirements.
Experience Requirement:
A minimum of 3 years of experience in an Operating Room setting within an acute care facility is required. Teaching experience is preferred, as this role involves conducting Surgical Services Orientation.
Licensure/Certification:
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia is mandatory. AHA BLS-HCP certification is required, and candidates may need to obtain/maintain ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications based on the specific work unit.
Other Requirements:
Successful completion of orientation and competency requirements is necessary. Proficiency in keyboarding and computer literacy is required for automated systems, including electronic medical records. Candidates must be able to fulfill essential job functions.
