Key Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking an experienced Information System Security Specialist (RMF) to support our mission in enhancing cybersecurity measures.

The role involves providing engineering expertise in Cyber Situational Awareness (SA), Cyber Command and Control (C2), Mission Assurance, and Homeland Defense. The specialist will engage in Agile software engineering within a Development, Security, and Operations (DevSecOps) framework, focusing on Cloud architecture design, operational management, and cybersecurity support.

The responsibilities include:
  • Delivering technical and programmatic Information Assurance Services to both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring robust network and information security systems.
  • Formulating, developing, and executing security requirements integrated into organizational business processes, while preparing documentation in accordance with established guidelines such as RMF.
  • Creating comprehensive test plans to validate security measures.
  • Offering assessment and authorization (A&A) support for the formulation of security and contingency strategies, alongside conducting intricate risk and vulnerability evaluations.
  • Reviewing policies and procedures against Federal regulations, providing strategic recommendations to address identified gaps.
  • Drafting and finalizing system security and contingency plans.
  • Advising on system enhancements to rectify security vulnerabilities.
  • Developing, testing, and integrating security tools for computer and network systems.
  • Securing system configurations, installing security tools, and conducting compliance scans to evaluate system integrity.
  • Performing security audits and devising solutions to mitigate identified risks, while ensuring compliance with privacy and risk management standards.
  • Providing information assurance support in the development and implementation of security architectures to adapt to evolving security challenges.
  • Evaluating and refining security policies and tools, and assisting in computer incident investigations.
  • Conducting vulnerability assessments and formulating risk mitigation strategies.
  • Performing COMSEC duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with a BS/BA degree, or 3 years with an MS/MA. Relevant experience may substitute for a Bachelor's degree.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in executing Risk Management Framework activities.
  • Proven experience conducting STIG assessments and utilizing SCAP benchmarks.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in performing vulnerability assessments using the Assured Compliance Assessment Solution tool.
  • Experience with STIG and eMASS.
  • Capability in developing Plans of Actions and Milestones (POA&M) entries.
  • Experience in completing Risk Management Framework Step 5 authorizations in the capacity of Information System Security Engineer (ISSE).
  • Strong communication skills for conveying risk reduction recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Possession of IAT Level II certification.
  • Minimum certification as 461 (or equivalent as mandated by Technical Instruction) at the Intermediate level per DoDD, or successor.
  • Active Top Secret clearance with eligibility for SCI access.
