Packing Relief Operator Job Summary

Aspire Bakeries is a leading North American baking company with a strong presence in specialty frozen baked goods. We are seeking a skilled Packing Relief Operator to join our team in the Packaging and Retail Bagging Department.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing and experience in packaging and retail bagging operations. They will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and accurate production of packaged goods, as well as maintaining a safe and clean work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform duties as assigned by the Packaging Supervisor or their designee
  • Ensure adherence to the daily production, packaging, and retail bagging schedule
  • Coordinate, organize, and assign subordinates daily job tasks in packaging and retail bagging departments
  • Verify that metal detectors are operational and perform regular tests as directed by the Quality Assurance Department
  • Monitor blast freezer temperature and core product temperatures to ensure product temperature specifications are met
  • Inform maintenance department or Packaging Supervisor of equipment maintenance issues
  • Adjust and prepare inkjet coder for daily production
  • Ensure that lot codes, bar codes, use-by dates, case labels, and retail bags are correctly applied, used, or inserted into the cases according to specifications
  • Ensure all packaging documentation, including finished product report, spoils report, metal detector log, pallet tags, checklist, and daily employee hour reports, and other documentation, is filled out accurately, legibly, and on time
  • Ensure that sufficient packaging materials are available for daily activities (cartons, labels, retail bags, pallets, pallet tags, case tape, etc.)
  • Operate forklift and pallet jack to move product, including into and out of freezer
  • Complete duties, and ensure that subordinates complete their duties, in accordance with quality assurance, GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), safety, and other company programs and procedures, and in accordance with government codes and regulations
  • Ensure subordinates are wearing the proper protective freezer clothing issued when performing job tasks in the freezer
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work area, including wiping and washing equipment and tools; sweeping and mopping floors; and trash removal
  • Ensure that subordinates are operating equipment safely and correctly
  • Enter case production (finished goods) information into a spreadsheet
  • Do data entry of production run as per requirements of MOVEX/SAP
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or GED is preferred
  • Two years of related manufacturing experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of experience and training
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as production schedules, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to complete routine reports
  • Bilingual English and Spanish is preferred
  • Knowledge of inventory control software is helpful
  • Forklift certification is preferred

Shift: 2nd (2 pm - 10:30 pm
MUST WORK WEEKENDS)
