Job Summary

This role is responsible for providing knowledge and competence in radiologic technology, imaging, and devices, with a focus on pediatric interventional radiology, electrophysiology, and cardiac catheterization procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist physicians during diagnostic or therapeutic imaging procedures
  • Operate fixed and mobile angiographic equipment, including x-ray system controls, diagnostic and digital image archival, and power injectors
  • Perform quality control procedures on equipment and initiate repair as necessary
  • Provide scrub assistance during procedures and aid during intervention cases
  • Enter data such as patient demographics in imaging equipment and correctly archive images in Cardiac PACS and Radiology PACS
  • Utilize time efficiently, prioritize work, and ask for reassignment when free
  • Stock assigned room with appropriate supplies needed for procedures
  • Verify and complete all documentation, including EPIC and Inventory systems
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiological Technology school
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Minimum one to three years of Specialty (IR, Cath, or EP experience)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification within six months of hire
  • RTF (California State Fluoroscopic Permit) certification
  • CRT (Certified by the State of California Department of Health Services in Diagnostic) certification
  • ARRT RTR (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certification Reg.) Tech-Radiography certification
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Intermediate understanding of principles of radiation in relation to imaging techniques
  • Intermediate understanding of most supplies for procedures trained in and proper usage
  • Intermediate understanding of the safety requirements of basic procedures and learning the safety requirements of more complex procedures
  • Intermediate understanding of the anatomy and physiology in relation to the procedures performed
  • Intermediate understanding of procedure indications, disease processes involved, and treatment options
  • Demonstrate intermediate communications skills
  • Ability to explain a basic procedure to the appropriate audience
  • Ability and knowledge to assess the specific age needs of patients
  • Need to confirm procedure assessment with more experienced Tech
  • With coaching, start to build a trusting and collaborative relationship with colleagues and patients
