Role Responsibilities and Qualifications

The Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering high-quality, patient-focused care. Collaborating with medical professionals, the RN provides both pre-operative and post-operative care, advocating for patients to ensure an exceptional experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate patient conditions upon admission and throughout each shift, promptly identifying and reporting any changes.
  • Execute procedures and tasks as directed by the medical team.
  • Accurately document care provided in the patient medical record in a timely manner.
  • Administer prescribed medications and monitor patient responses.
  • Maintain knowledge of medications, procedures, and equipment pertinent to cardiac and medical-surgical patient care.
Required Qualifications:
  • Current Registered Nurse License in Texas or a Multi-State Compact License (Texas RN License must be obtained within 90 days for Compact License holders).
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 1 year of RN experience in an ICU setting is preferred.
  • Current BLS Certification from the American Heart Association is required.
  • Current ACLS Certification from the American Heart Association must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
