Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Armature Winder to join our team at Electric Machinery Company. As a key member of our Winding Team, you will be responsible for setting up, laying out, winding, connecting, testing, and troubleshooting electrical AC or DC rotating equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Wind stators and rotors to engineering specifications according to documented procedures.
  • Perform layout operations from armature winding specifications and engineering instructions.
  • Assemble temperature sensing devices per engineering and process requirements.
  • Measure, order, configure, and insert slot insulation.
  • Braze or solder connections using torches, solder irons, tinning pots, or induction brazing equipment.
  • Insulate connections, lashings studs, and lashing rings according to process requirements.
  • Layout and connect phase groups per Armature Winding process specifications.
  • Layout sample coils, form connections to tooling guides, life, turn, sand, tape, paint, and transport turbo half coils.
  • Layout, install, connect, insulate, and lug main stator leads.
  • Perform in-process electrical tests during winding and assist during final inspection of stators or rotors.
  • Perform turbo rotor winding operations, including making armature leads, setting up and winding of rotor, hanging pressing fixtures, and baking rotor.
  • Perform exciter rotor winding, both random and formed coil operations, including interpreting winding schematics, layout, insulate, wind, connect, band, and troubleshooting electrical problems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, processes, and bills of materials.
  • Work in other areas of the Winding Team skills matrix, may perform duties in the Winding Team skills matrix, such as coil taping, coil manufacturing, VPI, and pole winding.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to Continuous Improvement by identifying opportunities in day-to-day work.
  • Perform to ISO 9001 Quality Standards and abide by OSHA and EPA regulations.
Requirements
  • High School degree (required) with a 1 year of manufacturing experience (preferred).
  • Ability to be certified in overhead crane, Jib crane, and forklift operation.
  • Math skills required to compute cross-sectional areas for wire splices.
