Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Physical Therapist to join our team at OPWDD/Taconic DDSO. As a Senior Physical Therapist, you will work under the general direction of a higher-level, licensed physical therapist or clinician, independently providing a variety of physical therapy treatment services to individuals with severe or acute physical disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement and execute established patient treatment plans, guiding and instructing individuals on physical therapy interventions and the use of assistive devices.
  • Observe and report upon individuals' progress, responses, and behaviors, and recommend modifications to clinical treatment plans based on their observations.
  • Communicate with referring physicians, nurses, service coordinators, and other members of the individual's treatment team.
  • Maintain treatment records and documentation in accordance with program standards and requirements.
  • Assemble, clean, and maintain physical therapy equipment for individuals' use.
  • Coordinate physical therapy activities with other health care providers as deemed necessary.
  • Monitor physical therapy supply inventories.
  • Schedule individuals' appointments and procedures.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
  • Possession of a license and current registration as a Physical Therapist in New York State.
  • One year of post-licensure physical therapy experience.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Working Conditions

Travel within the five-county catchment area will be required in the performance of the duties of the position. This may include use of a state-owned vehicle, as available, or the employee's own car. An employee who uses his/her own car will be reimbursed at current negotiated rates.
