POSITION:
Music Accompanist

REPORTS TO:
Principal of High School & Middle School

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS:
Must meet the ESSA highly qualified criteria of 60 college credit hours.
Proficient in reading and interpreting musical notation.
Demonstrated expertise in various musical genres.
Solid understanding of music theory.
Ability to perform on the piano.
Familiarity with instruments used in Band and Choir.
Exemplary personal integrity and professional ethics.
Strong classroom management and organizational capabilities.
Effective communication skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operates under the guidance of choir and band directors.

Provides accompaniment for ensembles in diverse settings (e.g., rehearsals, concerts, competitions, auditions) to ensure professional musical support for students and educators.

Rehearses with large choral groups, vocal sections, and soloists; performs full and sectional accompaniment; offers high-level musical instruction assistance in diction, rhythm, and memorization of parts while collaborating with band sections.

Analyzes and learns multiple pieces of assigned music each semester and prior to rehearsals and performances (e.g., correct tempos, challenging transitions, dynamics) to enhance the instructional program and ensure efficient use of rehearsal time and performance schedules.

Assists educators with various student-related activities (e.g., recording for individual students, practicing with individuals or small groups) to support and ensure the success of each program.

Maintains regular and predictable attendance to provide students with high-quality services and instruction; understands that participation in evening and weekend performances is expected and is willing to work a flexible schedule.

Engages in consistent professional interaction with students and staff to educate students; demonstrates professionalism and state etiquette to serve as a model for musical productions.
