Job Summary

The University of New Mexico-Taos Library is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented student employee to join our team as a Library Assistant. This role is ideal for students who enjoy working in a dynamic customer service environment and are interested in developing their skills in library operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist library patrons with finding and checking out library materials, as well as providing technology support and assistance with online databases.
  • Work with library staff to open and close library facilities, ensuring a welcoming environment for all users.
  • Shelve books and library materials, and participate in other ongoing projects as assigned.
  • Assist with programming and displays, and contribute to the development of a positive and inclusive library environment.
Requirements
  • Good customer service skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to use computers, including word-processing programs and other applications, and proficiency in Microsoft Word.
  • Experience conducting online searching and using email, as well as ability to sort alphabetically and work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be enrolled at least half-time and eligible for financial aid.
  • Able to bend, stoop, and lift up to 25 pounds, and work in enclosed spaces.
