Job SummaryThe Lab Supervisor is responsible for leading the histology team and ensuring the smooth operation of the laboratory. This includes preparing and staining histology specimens, maintaining laboratory equipment, and supervising staff.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and direct the histology team to ensure efficient and accurate preparation of histology specimens
- Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies, ensuring they are in good working order and adequate for the work to be performed
- Supervise and train staff on laboratory procedures and protocols
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and CLIA guidelines
- Collaborate with the laboratory courier service to resolve any issues or emergencies with specimen pick-ups
- Troubleshoot IT, IT interface, and equipment issues
- Coordinate with reference laboratories and troubleshoot issues
- 2 years of lab supervisory experience required
- Former Histotechnician II experience strongly preferred
- Knowledge of programming and operation of general laboratory and automated JHC equipment
- Research skills
- Interpersonal/human relations skills
- Ability to operate personal computer
- Ability to approach problems/decisions analytically
- Ability to maintain records
- Ability to use microscope/cryostat, tissue processors, and stainers
