We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team as a Lead RN on the 2nd shift at our 500 West unit. As a key member of our nursing team, you will be responsible for providing leadership and guidance to newly hired RNs, promoting a warm and welcoming environment, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Provide training, guidance, and support to newly hired RNs, ensuring they are equipped to provide excellent patient care.
- Respond to questions and concerns in a respectful and timely manner.
- Act as a backup point of contact for direction of other unit staff members when the Charge is unavailable.
- Provide leadership and guidance in crisis behavioral management, utilizing the nursing process to develop initial nursing treatment plans for each admitted patient.
- Direct and participate in maintaining a safe and therapeutic milieu, ensuring the well-being of patients with co-occurring disorders, eating disorders, and trauma backgrounds.
- Assist with discharge planning and work with patients at the time of discharge.
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- 6-12 months of previous Psych Nursing experience, demonstrating a strong understanding of the unit they will be assisting in leadership.
- Previous team lead/leadership experience preferred but not required.
- Current RN licensure in the state of Michigan.
- Demonstrates clinical competency in providing general nursing care.
- Basic understanding of psychiatric nursing theory.
- CPR/Handle With Care certification preferred.
