Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Elementary Class Assistant to join our team at the Center for Nonprofit Management. As a key member of our educational staff, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning environment and ensuring the success of our students.

Responsibilities

  • Provide morning and afternoon recess coverage, ensuring a safe and engaging experience for students.
  • Assist class and subject teachers in maintaining a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Actively supervise students, promoting focus and responsibility, even in distracting situations.
  • Work in various outdoor weather conditions for extended periods, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
  • Share observations and insights about each student's progress with class teachers, fostering a collaborative approach to education.
  • Provide substitute coverage as needed, demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and flexibility.
  • Assist in maintaining and organizing student work and classroom supplies, promoting a sense of order and responsibility.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher to create a safe, inclusive, and harmonious environment that supports social-emotional development and learning.
  • Aid in creating and maintaining a grade-appropriate, aesthetically pleasing, and orderly classroom space, reflecting the values of Waldorf Education.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintain an openness to understanding Waldorf Education and child development, embracing ongoing learning and growth.
  • Attend and participate in weekly faculty meetings and in-service workshops, staying informed and engaged with the educational community.
  • Attend and participate in weekly section meetings, fostering collaboration and communication among team members.
  • Contribute to at least one faculty committee, demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and community involvement.
  • Attend major all-school activities, showcasing a sense of school spirit and community.
  • Attend all-school meetings as indicated by the administration, staying informed and engaged with the school community.
  • Participate in the enrollment process of new students, particularly in discussions of student placement, demonstrating a commitment to student success.
  • Participate in the design and execution of an individualized plan for professional development, embracing ongoing learning and growth.
  • Attend Waldorf education summer training as identified as appropriate by the Director of Education, staying informed and engaged with the educational community.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Education or a related field, or similar life/work experience.
  • Interest in and appreciation for Waldorf Education, reflecting a commitment to the values and principles of the school.
