Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Radiology Technologist to join our team at UnityPoint Health. As a Radiology Technologist, you will be responsible for performing a variety of technical procedures on patients of all ages, requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform quality diagnostic procedures, including general, surgical, portable, and tomography imaging.
  • Provide and use radiation protection devices and techniques in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
  • Maintain radiographic quality by accurate positioning of patients and equipment, and technique manipulation.
  • Correctly document required information in the computerized information system (RIS).
  • Assist radiologists and/or physicians in specific procedures and patient care, as well as in the administration of contrast media and other medications as required.
  • Apply knowledge of operation and use of diagnostic x-ray machines, processors, and other required equipment, and maintain safety.
  • Test conducted using equipment is done correctly and produces accurate results; optimum processing is maintained at all times; malfunctions are reported immediately.
  • Perform appropriate quantity of work, consistently productive, and volunteer to take on additional work when finished with assigned tasks.
  • Rotate shifts, weekends, and holidays as required by the department.
  • Direct patient flow to specific rooms and times, minimizing patient delays.
  • Ensure equipment is clean, orderly, and ready for use, meeting all safety/health regulations and procedures.
  • Maintain communications with nursing staff concerning patient condition and radiographic procedural changes.
Requirements
  • Completion of a Radiologic Technology program.
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree.
  • 1+ years of prior Radiology Tech experience.
  • Holds current, active permit to practice Radiology in the state of Iowa.
  • Certified and holds current registration with the A.R.R.T. as a Radiologic Technologist.
