Job Summary:

The Nutrition Program at North Central College invites applications to teach courses as a faculty associate during the academic year. The successful candidate will teach one or two undergraduate (Nutrition Science, B.S) courses per semester. The role requires someone who can deliver course content, contribute to the creation of assignments and other assessments, evaluate and grade student work, and hold office hours to assist students.

Responsibilities:
  • Teach one or two undergraduate courses per semester in the Nutrition Science program
  • Deliver course content and contribute to the creation of assignments and assessments
  • Evaluate and grade student work
  • Hold office hours to assist students
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in the teaching discipline or a concentration in the discipline (with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in teaching discipline) at the time of appointment
  • Applicants should indicate in their cover letter how their professional work experience and/or teaching experiences qualifies them to teach in one (or more) of the following areas:
    • Introductory nutrition concepts
    • Nutrition and metabolism
    • Food systems and sustainability
    • Community nutrition
    • Clinical nutrition and nutrition counseling
    • Food service management and leadership
  • Prior higher education teaching experience preferred
  • Experience facilitating student-led classroom discussions
  • Evidence of working with a diverse student population
  • Evidence of effective collaboration skills
  • Experience with technology/course management systems (e.g. Canvas)
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
