Position Overview:
The Electrical Estimator is essential in providing accurate project cost assessments to support various operational departments. This role encompasses the evaluation of blueprints and related documentation, gathering proposals from subcontractors, and determining overall project expenses. The Estimator will engage in preconstruction activities, including project scouting, attending pre-bid discussions, and vendor/subcontractor selection. Collaboration with project managers is vital to ensure that the finalized project costs are in line with the estimated figures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute detailed quantity takeoffs from project plans and specifications.
- Solicit quotes and outline scopes of work for subcontractors and suppliers.
- Foster effective communication with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.
- Review documentation to gain a comprehensive understanding of project requirements.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with key clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Conduct site visits and participate in onsite pre-bid meetings as necessary for bid preparation.
- Collaborate with Electrical Managers regarding scheduling and capacity limitations.
- Assess cost factors, formulate estimates, and develop project timelines.
- Engage in negotiations and finalize agreements with subcontractors.
- Organize and prioritize work activities, foresee additional resource needs, and create actionable plans.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned by the Supervisor.
- Generate specialized reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
- Identify cost trends and price variations of materials, components, and resources.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- At least 5 years of experience in project estimation.
- Proficient in computer applications with strong analytical skills.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications for a thorough understanding of the work scope.
- Extensive knowledge of the electrical contracting sector.
- Solid understanding of construction methodologies.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to repetitively lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds, with frequent bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
