Covenant Health and the Thompson Cancer Survival Center form a vital part of the largest cancer-fighting network in the region. Our facilities boast numerous imaging centers and a team of board-certified physicians and surgeons dedicated to delivering the highest quality of care.
Position Summary:
In this role, you will deliver professional clinical care to patients undergoing treatments and examinations in an outpatient clinical environment, under the guidance of the attending provider and practice office manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate patients' overall health status by taking vital signs and recording weight.
- Assist healthcare providers during examinations, diagnostic tests, and treatments, including phlebotomy, injections, and suturing.
- Administer medications as prescribed, ensuring proper dosage and documentation.
- Provide orientation and training to new staff members as necessary.
- Deliver basic patient care as directed.
- Ensure timely communication of test results to patients.
- Utilize effective communication techniques to enhance patient comfort and privacy.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of all patient interactions and treatments.
- Promote health and wellness by providing educational materials and conveying providers' instructions.
- Manage patient inquiries and prioritize appointment scheduling.
- Oversee inventory and ensure that medical supplies and equipment are well-maintained.
- Ensure confidentiality regarding patient information and practice operations.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring all equipment is in proper working condition.
- Facilitate referrals and pre-certifications as required.
- Collaborate with patients, physicians, and other healthcare team members to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Adhere to established policies, procedures, and safety standards while participating in ongoing education and quality improvement initiatives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
Must meet the educational requirements for licensure as an LPN.
Experience:
A minimum of one year of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse is required.
Licensure:
Must hold a valid LPN license in the state of Tennessee. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association is also required.
