PRIMARY FUNCTION:

This role encompasses a diverse array of responsibilities associated with the origination of residential first mortgage loans sourced from external referrals. You will be expected to meet the performance standards and objectives established by management regarding mortgage loan sales and cross-selling initiatives. You will take full ownership of the residential mortgage loan process from application through to closing.

It is essential to maintain accountability for risk by openly sharing insights and concerns, adhering to established policies and procedures. You will be responsible for ensuring that your actions contribute positively to the customer experience, while consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting various types of risks within the Bank's risk appetite.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish and nurture referral relationships (including realtors, builders, and both professional and personal contacts).
  • Stay informed about Fifth Third Mortgage Company's policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of available loan products, processing protocols, underwriting, and departmental guidelines.
  • Adhere to established protocols for managing exceptions.
  • Gather applicant information by completing the necessary forms electronically.
  • Utilize technology for communication, accessing daily rates, applicant credit reports, and transmitting loan information.
  • Collect required documentation from applicants and ensure timely submission of loan packages as per management's expectations.
  • Oversee the loan pipeline from origination to closing, and complete necessary management reports.
  • Provide timely updates and progress reports to branches and applicants.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service while managing expectations of applicants and support staff.
  • Participate in all Consumer Lending meetings as mandated by management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; a four-year college degree is preferred.
  • Familiarity with conventional and/or government lending guidelines.
  • Understanding of residential mortgage processing, underwriting, and closing procedures.
  • Knowledge of federal regulations governing real estate lending.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and customer service capabilities.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Basic sales techniques knowledge.
  • A strong desire to succeed in a competitive environment.
  • This position requires registration under the S.A.F.E. Act at the time of employment through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS).
