Position Summary:

Are you eager to contribute to and enhance a global vulnerability management lifecycle? Newell Brands is in search of a knowledgeable cybersecurity analyst to lead and advance our vulnerability management initiatives within the Global Information Security domain.

This role encompasses supporting penetration testing and red team operations, which are crucial for assessing technical controls and safeguarding our information assets against unauthorized access, misuse, data breaches, and operational disruptions. This is accomplished through effective identification, evaluation, prioritization, and tracking of vulnerabilities.

This position requires close collaboration with IT and business units, including regular engagement with internal and external auditors, as well as Legal, Privacy, and Ethics teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance the organization-wide vulnerability management framework, integrating automation into workflow processes as necessary.
  • Assist in penetration testing and red team operations, contributing to reconnaissance, scanning, and vulnerability assessment stages.
  • Develop insights into Newell Brands' current and future threat landscape.
  • Conduct asset discovery and vulnerability assessments across enterprise systems and applications in both IT and OT environments.
  • Coordinate vulnerability remediation tracking in partnership with infrastructure teams and system/application owners.
  • Generate reports utilizing vulnerability management platforms and third-party tools for various stakeholders.
  • Research and identify vulnerabilities through both automated tools and manual techniques.
  • Perform vulnerability analysis, validate findings, and investigate false positives.
  • Engage in remediation efforts through cross-functional teams across business units, providing prioritization and remediation recommendations.
  • Offer expertise and guidance from a vulnerability management perspective regarding information security matters.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Information Management Systems, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in an IT or Information Security role.
  • Demonstrated experience with Vulnerability Assessment tools (e.g., Nexpose, Nessus, Qualys).
  • Familiarity with application security, database security, and secure coding practices.
  • Experience with Mac, Windows, Linux, and/or other Unix-like systems.
  • Comprehensive understanding of TCP, UDP, HTTP, IP, and other networking protocols.
  • Ability to exhibit working knowledge of network security architectures, platforms, and protocols.
  • Proficient understanding of Windows and Linux server environments.
  • Thorough knowledge of current threats and exploits, including experience in vulnerability identification, analysis, and remediation.
  • Capable of identifying, assessing severity, and recommending remediation or workarounds for vulnerabilities.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts in clear business language.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant information security certifications (e.g., Sec+, CEH, GCIH) are preferred.
  • Experience in scripting or task automation using languages such as Perl, Python, PowerShell, Bash, or Ruby.
  • At least 2 years of experience in vulnerability management, including familiarity with the vulnerability management lifecycle and related activities.
