Job Summary:The Physician IV Medical Director is responsible for overseeing the medical services department at one of our state-supported living centers. This is a leadership position that requires a strong clinical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage a team of medical professionals.
Key Responsibilities:- Oversee the delivery of high-quality medical services to individuals with intellectual disabilities
- Direct the diagnoses and treatment of individuals with complex medical, psychiatric, and/or behavioral health needs
- Administer specialized medical treatments and procedures
- Delegate tasks to medical staff and maintain overall responsibility for the medical care of individuals at the center
- Participate in treatment team processes and provide medical information to parents, legally authorized representatives, and family members as appropriate
- Supervise medical department staff, including physicians, advanced nurse practitioners, physician assistants, pharmacists, dentists, and psychiatrists
- Formulate, implement, and monitor plans to ensure optimum performance of the medical department and compliance with the terms of the Department of Justice Settlement Agreement
- Knowledge of methods and procedures in the field of general medicine and of the principles of individualized care and treatment plans
- Knowledge of medical jurisprudence and ICF-IID standards
- Ability to plan, assign, and supervise the work of others, to direct medical activities, and to examine, diagnose, and treat physical or mental disorders
- Ability to evaluate patients and implement an effective course of treatment in coordination with other interdisciplinary personnel
- Ability to maintain required continuing medical education hours
