Join our team at UVA Health Northern VA & Culpeper as a Pharmacy Technician II, where you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective delivery of medication management across all dimensions of care.
About the Role:The Pharmacy Technician serves as a part of the healthcare team, collaborating with other team members to provide optimal care. As a Pharmacy Technician II, you will be responsible for managing and providing care in accordance with current policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:- Fill, prepare, and deliver medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner.
- Participate in the training of new employees.
- Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice to the staff pharmacist or supervisor as needed.
- Ensure quality is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements.
- Appropriately operate pharmacy equipment.
- Maintains considerable knowledge of medication names (both trade and generic) and their doses, routes of administration.
- Demonstrate patient interview skills and strong written and communication skills with other healthcare professionals.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 18 months minimum of relevant experience, 1 year of sterile compounding experience, or 1 year of employment required.
- Commonwealth of Virginia Pharmacy Technician Registration is required.
- Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (ExCPT) preferred.
The job requires constant sitting, standing, walking, and bending/stooping. Frequent repetitive body movements. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull up to 100 lbs. occasionally.
