Sign Language Interpreter

We are seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to join our team at UCNJ Union College of Union County, NJ. This is a part-time position that requires flexibility and adaptability.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will interpret English to ASL and ASL to English for deaf students during class, meetings with professors and other faculty/staff members, college events, and as needed for situations on campus. The interpreter will also convey the thought, intent, and spirit of a speaker to a deaf/hard of hearing person.
Requirements- An Associate's degree in American Sign Language Interpreting or a related field is required.
- A minimum of 1-3 years' experience in educational interpreting is preferred.
- Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf certification (NIC) is beneficial.
This position requires occasional physical effort, including lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds. The employee must be able to work in a typical interior/residence work environment based on scheduled activities. Some travel may be required.
