Key ResponsibilitiesThe role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Overseeing contract management and coordination for projects of differing scales and complexities.
- Interpreting and organizing construction engineering documentation effectively.
- Monitoring and guiding assigned personnel to ensure contractor activities align with project specifications and contractual obligations.
- Acting as a liaison among clients, project teams, and contractors to resolve project-related issues.
- Managing change orders and conducting cost assessments.
- Evaluating claims related to altered conditions.
- Analyzing and resolving intricate construction and design challenges.
- Representing projects and clients during meetings and conferences.
- Reviewing contractor correspondence as necessary.
- Implementing on-site procedures to support staff in their tasks.
- Keeping clients updated on project developments and proposing potential solutions.
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, and special provisions.
- Monitoring contractor progress against the approved schedule.
- Assessing and reviewing progress schedules.
- Mentoring and training junior staff members.
- Administering contracts and managing budgets.
- Coordinating with relevant agencies as required.
- Adapting to various weather conditions and working hours as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- A BA/BS degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Possession of a California PE License.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
- Over 10 years of experience in transportation and construction engineering, particularly with roadways and bridges.
- Familiarity with bridge projects adhering to Caltrans specifications.
- Previous involvement in large-scale bridge replacement initiatives.
- Proficiency in scheduling software such as MS Project and P6 is advantageous.
- Understanding of project contract fundamentals and accounting principles.
- Strong skills in problem-solving, organization, and mathematics.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
