Key Responsibilities- Assist Medical Providers: Support medical providers and psychiatric providers in their daily activities, including taking vital signs, reconciling medications, and documenting patient information in the electronic medical record.
- Coordinate Patient Care: Coordinate with interpreters to ensure effective communication with patients, and assist with medical procedures, exams, and treatments as needed.
- Prepare and Administer Medications: Prepare and administer medications, injections, and immunizations as directed by licensed healthcare providers.
- Provide Patient Education: Educate patients about medications, special diets, and other health-related topics as directed by licensed healthcare providers.
- Assist with Clinic Flow: Assist with nurse triage phone line, answer patient calls, and help with clinic flow to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
- Education and Certification: Completion of an approved training program in medical assisting and certification as a Medical Assistant.
- CPR Certification: Current CPR certification.
- Cultural Competence: Knowledge of and respect for American Indian cultures and other cultures served by IHB.
