Radiation Effects Engineer

Job Summary: Draper Labs is seeking a Radiation Effects Engineer to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) in analyzing hostile and natural space radiation. The successful candidate will work in the Contested Environments System Analysis group and be integrated into the MDA Survivability Knowledge Center.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support engineering decisions based on radiation effects on overall system performance.
- Design and verify the performance of systems across multiple radiation effects, including dose rate, total ionizing dose (TID), neutron displacement damage (NDD), and single event effects (SEE).
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure radiation hardening is maintained across the product lifecycle.
- Develop and execute approaches for problem-solving and independently execute assignments.
- Contribute high-quality content for technical reports and presentations.
- Proactively identify needs and concerns associated with design decisions and communicate them to project leadership.
- Contribute to the updates of best practices and QMS processes.
Requirements:

- Solid understanding of radiation interactions with materials and devices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with radiation transport tools such as MCNP.
- Familiarity with environment definition tools such as ASSIST, FAB4DA, and SPIET-D.
- Conduct Probability of Success (Ps) analysis for parts including use of Weibull curves for SEE.
Education: Requires a Bachelor's in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or other relevant field. A Master's degree or PhD is preferred.
Experience: 3-5 years Radiation Engineering or related experience.
Security Clearance: Applicants selected for this position will be required to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
