Key Responsibilities- Registration and Admission: Register and admit patients in a professional manner, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and efficiency.
- Patient Type Determination: Determine the correct patient type based on patient need and physician order.
- Account Notes Documentation: Document account notes using the financial system.
- Patient Education: Educate patients and family members on consent for treatment, advance directives, medical release, patient rights, PCP and MCO requirements, non-coverage, billing, and payment policies.
- Census Generation: Generate and distribute computer census on a daily basis.
- Payment Collection: Collect co-payments and deposits to promote positive cash flow.
- Payment Reconciliation: Receive payments for hospital accounts, issue receipts, reconcile all payment transactions at shift end, and verify petty cash.
- TennCare and Workers Comp Eligibility: Verify TennCare and Workers Comp eligibility.
- Pre-Registration: Complete pre-registration of all patient types.
- Change Patient Type: Perform change patient type on all laboratory specimens.
- Payment Arrangements: Set up payment arrangements on private pay patients with the inability to pay, or refer to the Business Office.
- Patient Valuables: Collect, secure, and return all patient valuables.
- Physician Orders Review: Review all physician orders to ensure diagnosis and physician signatures are present.
- Admission Packets: Compile and distribute admission packets to all patients admitted for overnight stay.
- Policies and Procedures: Follow policies, procedures, and safety standards. Complete required education assignments annually. Work toward achieving goals and objectives, and participate in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
- Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the Registration Supervisor and Business Office Manager.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Preference may be given to individuals possessing a high school diploma or GED.
- Experience: No experience required. Excellent customer service and computer skills are preferred. Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
